A Study on K.A.P of Immunization of Infants in an Area of Seoul


Abstract
This study is to discuss the Knowledge, Attitude and Practice of immunization for 116 mothers, at the age of 20 to 44, with the babies of 0¡­24 months, who came to Sueong-Dong Ku public health centher, Chung-Ku public health center, and 132 mothers living at Nan-Kok Area, Shin-Lim Dong, Kwan-Ak Ku, Seoul. This study was carried out from 25 July till 25 September, 1976.
1. Mothers¢¥ age and educational basis are as the following: Age 25¡­34 79.0%
average 28.6 yrs
Educational basis;primary school graduates 42.3%
2. Infants monthly age and sex are as the following:
Monthly age under 12 months, 81.7%;
Sex Male, 56.9%.
3. Birth order is as the following:
First baby, 38.3%
4. The group received prenatal care before delivery is 47.6%. 1¡­3 times of prenatal care is 57.1%; average is 1.98 times.
5. The classification of perception for immunization is as the following:
Measles 87.5% Small-pox 89.5% B.C.G. 54.2% D. P. T. 52.7%
Their perception for immunization is much varied.
6. According to the statisical test, the mothers¢¥ educational backgroud shows significant difference as place of delivery.
7. The knowledge of D.P.T. and small-pox shows the statistical significant difference according to their age.
8. According to the statistical test, the knowledge of B. C. G., Measles, Smallpox has a significant difference as birth order.
9. According to the statistical, the knowledge of D.P.T. and B.C.G. has a significant difference as prenatal care.
10. The mothers with higher educational background gave birth to their babies at hospitals and this shows that the mothers¢¥ social and economic status has something to do with the birth place.
11. 97.9% of the mothers are of attitude that immunization is necessary.
12. The places for immunization are public health center (60.9%) and hospitals(25.5%).
13. B.C.G. vaccination rate is 44.8%.
D.P.T. vaccination rate is 82.1%.
Polio vaccination rate is 57.8%.
Measles vaccination rate is 18.9%.
Smallpox vaccination rate is 54.1%.
14. Vaccination rate of their babies is lower than that of the babies regis
tered at public health center and center for specia purposes.
